Our aim is to clarify the molecular mechanisms responsible for the morphological and ultrastructural changes in amphiphile-treated erythrocytes undergoing vesiculation. One important part in this work will be to explore the impact of the membrane skeleton and its components on the vesiculation process.Another important part will be to clarify if changes in phospholipid distribution, phospholipid mobility or aminophospholipid-translocase activity are involved in the initiation or regulation of the vesiculation process.
